Historic Little Italy

Welcome to the rich and vibrant neighborhood that is home to La Bella Vita.

La Bella Vita is nestled in the center of Cleveland's historic district, Little Italy. Established in the 1800's by an artisan from Italy who made his name and fortune sculpting beautiful reliefs and statues for prominent sites in the East Coast cities of New York and Boston. The artisan, Joseph Carabelli, selected Cleveland as the ideal city to begin his own business. His work is part of the rich history of this nation. He brought artisans from his native country, Italy, to work in his business and settle in the village that developed from his venture known as Little Italy. Carabelli is honored as not only a successful business man, and leader of enterprise in the Italian American society, but as a statesman who educated Americans about the rich heritage of the Italian accomplishments in this country.

Today, Little Italy is neighbored by Case Western University, the city's prominent museums and the world renowned Severance Hall featuring The Cleveland Symphony. The area is a local and tourist attraction and home for the best Italian cuisine in the city and over 30 artist galleries, boutiques and studios that reside in this vibrant slice of the city.
